2019 Afterschool Champion Award

Deadline: EXTENDED TO January 11, 2019

PSAYDN is accepting nominations for the 2019 Afterschool Champions. Nominees should demonstrate outstanding work in developing, supporting and promoting meaningful high quality afterschool/out-of-school time programs to benefit children, youth and families across Pennsylvania.

Winners will be recognized during the PSAYDN Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Hilton, Harrisburg, Pa.

Individual Outstanding Policy and Advocacy Award (up to two awards)

Criteria:

  • Setting actionable advocacy goals
  • Strong policymaker relationships
  • Educating families and communities about quality afterschool

 

Individual Outstanding Sustainability Award (up to two awards)

Criteria:

  • Developing intentional partnerships (i.e. business, higher ed., STEM)
  • Fundraising/resource development
  • Professional development
  • Policy and procedures-continuity of services

 

Individual Outstanding Quality Award (up to two awards)

Criteria:

  • Structure and management
  • Positive Connections
  • Safety and health
  • Obesity
  • Safety
  • Activities
  • Life skills
  • Core activities

 

Organization (up to two awards)

Criteria (after PSAYDN's Statement of Quality and goals):

  • Structure and management
  • Positive connections
  • Safety and health (obesity, safety)
  • Activities (life skills, core activities)
  • Policy and advocacy
  • Sustainability
  • Quality

 

Policymaker (up to two awards)

Criteria:

  • Familiarity with afterschool/OST/summer learning programs
  • Support through funding
  • Resource help
  • Community connections

 

Youth (up to three awards)

Criteria:

  • Leadership within a program
  • Mentorship abilities
  • Consistent participation
  • Champion for youth (i.e., resilience, strong peer relationships)
